(This plant stayed behind when I moved in 2021; therefore, the following text will receive no further updates.)

I had been thinking for some time of how to provide a strong green backdrop for my Dynamite crapemyrtles to bring out their red flowers better. When I discovered the existence of this cultivar of our native Carolina jessamine, reputed to be cold-hardy in our area (unlike the species), it seemed like a no-brainer to plant two and have them cover the fence behind the crapemyrtles.

I will admit that my initial reaction on receipt was, "I paid $35 per plant (shipped) for this?" But I guess that's what happens when you have a rare cultivar and Rare Find Nursery's website is STILL under renovation and not able to take online orders (otherwise I would have ordered it from them instead). At least the roots were not that difficult to tease apart -- given the #1 pot size, it would have been a huge disappointment if they were seriously potbound.

I can report that the Margaritas stayed mostly evergreen through the winter of 2021, with the caveat that it was a mild winter (lows staying in double digits the whole time) that included significant snow cover. Also, the flowers have a delightful fragrance, which will be much more useful once the plants grow tall enough that one doesn't need to bend one's nose down to the gorund to detect it.
