Viburnum dentatum
arrowwood viburnum

Notes:

Upright oval in youth, arching and spreading with age. Fall color is highly variable, so get a named selection if it's important.

Easy to transplant and extremely durable. Takes well to shearing. Suckers profusely with age. Dove/Woolridge and Rutgers (& JerseyYards.org) disagree on deer resistance.

'Christom' (Blue Muffin) is a true dwarf. 'Morton' (Northern Burgundy) has, as the name implies, burgundy fall color. 'Ralph Senior' (Autumn Jazz) also has good fall color, plus "excellent shape and form". 'Patzam' (Pathfinder) grows to only 6'x4'. 'Moonglow' has, as the name implies, glossy foliage; so does 'Synnestvedt' (Chicago Lustre) plus good fall color and the PHS Gold Medal Award.
