Viburnum cassinoides
witherod viburnum, withe-rod

Notes:

AKA V. nudum var. cassinoides.

Native to moist soils, including bogs and springheads.

Easy to transplant and extremely durable. Takes rejuvenation pruning. Sandy soil tolerance is debated (Dove/Woolridge and JerseyYards.org vs. White Oak, NCSU, and the USDA), but the USDA is an outlier in denying clay tolerance. Missouri BG claims fragrant flowers, but no one else does.

Var. angustifolium has narrower leaves and grows more slowly and openly than the species.
