Crataegus viridis 'Winter King'
Winter King green hawthorn

Notes:

Taprooted, but the species needs less soil depth than other hawthorns. Among most trouble-free hawthorns. Resistant to cedar-hawthorn rust. Mostly spineless cultivar. Takes pruning well. White Oak and the USDA outnumber NCSU on the question of sandy soil tolerance.
