Jasminum beesianum
red jasmine

Notes:

Dirr claims root hardiness only to 5°F, but NCSU recommends to USDA zone 7a (average annual minimum of 0°F).

Odenwald/Turner claim the fragrance is only slight, whereas NCSU calls it "sweet-smelling".

NCSU's claim that alkaline soil is required seems so extraordinary that I cannot bring myself to tag it as such without corroboration; AHS recommends other jasmines for limestone soil, but that's the closest any of my other sources come to prescribing any particular pH range.

Sources: AHS, Dirr, NCSU, Odenwald/Turner, Sunset.
