Yes, this is another one that warrants the seemingly contradictory tags "wet soil tolerant" and "well-drained soil required"; probably means that a highly organic soil is a must. NCSU lists as particularly deer resistant but also mentions that deer will browse it, so I guess it just recovers especially well.
