Edgeworthia chrysantha
paperbush

Notes:

Syn. E. papyrifera.

Not recommended north of USDA zone 7 unless protected.

Long bloom period (4-6 weeks). A Daphne relative with a gardenia-like fragrance but without daphnes' reputation for dying randomly. Fall color is debated.

Prefers organic soil. Give afternoon shade in hot climates. Not suited to dry, hot summers.

'Snow Cream' is large-flowered, upright, somewhat treelike, and hardier than the species.
