Cunninghamia lanceolata
China-fir

Notes:

The species is hardy only to Sunset zone 32 and USDA zone 7. Sandy soil tolerance is debated (Cal Poly vs. NCSU). Sunset is an outlier in demanding full sun.

Pyramidal when young, more open with age. Dieback without self-pruning may be a problem on mature trees. The species bronzes in winter.

'Glauca', a bluish form (as the name implies) that stays blue in winter, is slower growing and hardier than the species, to -10°F (so, USDA zone 6).
