Notes:

High humidity required and deep soil preferred. UFL claims slow growth, but Cal Poly and USDA do not corroborate this, and Dirr/Warren contradict it. Clay tolerance is debated (Cal Poly vs. USDA), as is salt tolerance (UFL vs. USDA).

Conifers.org mentions that this is one of the very few conifer species that can actually regrow from bare wood, as it has the ability to grow epicormic sprouts. (For some reason, the USDA did not see fit to mention this.)
