Schizophragma hydrangeoides
Japanese hydrangea vine

Notes:

Not an actual vine-form hydrangea (I don't know what NCSU is on about); that would be Hydrangea anomala subsp. petiolaris, which looks similar and is in the same family.

Not recommended for Sunset zone 37 (stops at 34 and 39).

Climbs via adhesive holdfasts. Slow to establish. NCSU was the only source that claimed fragrance, so I have not so tagged.

'Moonlight', having silvery blue-green foliage, has earned the PHS Gold Medal Award.

Sources: Sunset, Missouri BG, NCSU, Dirr.
