Helianthemum nummularium
sunrose, rock rose

Notes:

Not recommended for Sunset zone 37 (stops at 34); Dirr goes even further and says USDA zones 7-10, and even then only on the West Coast, though Missouri BG says USDA zones 5-7, so there really is no consensus. Generally seems to prefer a climate with more even temperatures than eastern North America. Hardiness is enhanced by avoiding soil that is acidic or rich (try to avoid too much succulent growth).

Shearing after bloom promotes reblooming. Can bloom for up to two months and profusely enough to hide the foliage, even on young plants and even though each flower opens for only a day.
