Notes:

Not recommended for Sunset zone 37 (stops at 34 and 39).

Fruits are showy, splitting to reveal seeds; fall color, on the other hand, is debated. Prune in late winter (it's not clear whether that means it flowers on new growth or if it's just to make sure the ornamental fruit has a chance to form).

Intolerant of hot, dry summers. Drought tolerance is (apparently hotly) debated.
