Erica × darleyensis
winter heath, spring heath

Notes:

Like E. carnea (one of its parents), and unlike most other plants in the heath family, this one tolerates neutral soils.

Don't prune back into bare wood, since it may not grow back (similar to most conifers). According to Virginia Tech, unlike E. carnea, these heaths actually do not usually need pruning.

'Silberschmelze' ('Molten Silver', 'Alba', 'Mediterranea Hybrid White') has fragrant flowers and is vigorous and easy to maintain. 'Furzey' is spreading and vigorous.
