Notes:

Recommend planting against an evergreen background. Smaller than true forsythias and actually blooms even earlier, with the added bonus of fragrant flowers; the fragrance has been described as similar to lilac plus almond extract. But just like true forsythias, nothing special when out of bloom, so don't use as a specimen.

Need for pruning is debated: Sunset says little if any, but Stoecklein says heavy.
