Cotoneaster microphyllus
rockspray cotoneaster, littleleaf cotoneaster, small-leaved cotoneaster
Notes:
Horizontal branches root as they go (secondary ones grow upward). Needs room to spread. Dense foliage may complicate fall cleanup when other trees/shrubs are nearby.
More susceptible to fireblight than C. dammeri, but less so than most other cotoneasters.
Var. thymifolius has even smaller leaves (and flowers and fruit).
