Notes:
Blue-green foliage. Taprooted but also with shallow fibrous roots; must have deep soil. Intolerant of hot, dry summers, and generally does poorly in the Eastern US. Good on sandy soil but not rocky/gravely soil.
Subsp. arizonica (cork fir) is smaller and better adapted to the East and Midwest, as per Dirr.
