Cotoneaster horizontalis
rockspray cotoneaster, rock cotoneaster
Notes:
Looks ugly when clipped to fit in too small of a horizontal space (like forsythia?), so give it plenty of room.
Leafless period is brief. Suitable for large-scale groundcover use. Branches root as they go.
Tolerates rabbits and heavy pruning. Difficult to clean of fallen leaves (another reason to favor siting in full sun).
Sparse root system complicates transplanting; recommended from containers (and/or root prune?).
