Notes:
Native to swamps, stream banks, and moist woods of the mountains and piedmont.
Flowers after the leaves and may rebloom sporadically. Druse calls the fragrance "mostly clove with anise and powder, carnation, lily, and heliotrope".
All parts poisonous.
