Forsythia × intermedia
border forsythia

Notes:

Probably overused. Famous as harbingers of spring, but usually unattractive at other times unless pruned regularly (single season plant). Form depends somewhat on the particular cultivar.

Fertilization can speed growth. NCSU and Sunset outnumber JerseyYards.org on salt tolerance.

'Arnold Dwarf' can be used as a groundcover (though the flowers are not that attractive or profuse).
