Ulmus minor
smooth-leaf elm

Notes:

USE WITH CAUTION: the invasive English elm, formerly known as U. procera, is now considered a variety of this species. Therefore, the whole species has been added to the 2021 Do Not Plant List for New Jersey.

AKA U. carpinifolia.

Pruning only when dormant can help prevent the spread of Dutch elm disease, to which this species is moderately susceptible (so, not as bad as U. americana).
