Notes:

Humid summers preferred. Better adapted to urban conditions than T. canadensis but slower growing and less suitable for the Eastern coastal plain (native to the Applachians).

NCSU says the needles "smell of tangerines when crushed", which is specific enough that I trust it even though no other source on my list mentions aromatic foliage.

Overfertilizing may increase susceptibility to hemlock woolly adelgid.
