UFL claims intolerance of clay, but this is contradicted by JerseyYards.org, NCSU, Cal Poly, Dirr/Warren, and the USDA. Tolerance of soil compaction is debated. Needs deep soil though. In general, indicated for poor soils where other oaks will not thrive.
