Pinus nigra
Austrian pine, Austrian black pine

Notes:

Needles in twos, held for 3+ years. Taprooted and needs deep soil. Flat-topped with age. Also opens with age and therefore may not remain useful as a screen in the long term (unless you can figure out how to prune it to induce backbudding, which I understand is tricky with most pines?).

Missouri BG, Cal Poly, and NCSU outnumber USDA on clay tolerance. Sandy soil tolerance is debated (Cal Poly vs. USDA).

Very susceptible to Diplodia/Sphaeropsis tip blight and pine wilt nematode.
