Magnolia salicifolia
anise magnolia
Notes:
Early bloomer, coming after only M. denudata in the Northeast. Suggested for use as a shrub border in front of other trees. As the name suggests, the stems smell of lemon/anise when bruised.
Avoid hot, dry, windy areas.
