Phlox subulata
creeping phlox, moss pink
Notes:
'Fort Hill' and 'Maiden's Blush' are said by Stoecklein to be fragrant. Subject to rabbit damage but resistant to powdery mildew. Can self-seed if conditions are right.
USDA claims clay tolerance (and UFL, but they're extremely liberal with the soil texture tolerances). Salt tolerance is debated (NCSU vs. USDA and UFL), as is soil fertility requirement (NCSU vs. USDA).
Sources: UFL, Sunset, Stoecklein, Missouri BG, NCSU, USDA.
