Notes:
Known by some as Berberis aquifolium, but I don't know why.
Best in shade in winter; susceptible to winter burn. Intolerant of dry heat. Salt tolerance is debated (Stoecklein vs. USDA).
Missouri BG recommends planting more than one for decent fruit production (like with viburnums, this is not a dioecious thing).
Low-growing types are suitable for shade groundcover duty.
