Pterostyrax hispidus
epaulette tree, fragrant epaulette tree

Notes:

Fragrance is slight.

Recommended for woodland edges and for sites that allow looking up into the blooms. Shade from morning sun is also recommended in climates prone to sudden winter temperature changes. UConn further recommends planting as old a specimen as possible in northern locations that may have harsh winters, as younger trees are more susceptible to dieback and splitting bark.

P. corymbosa is similar but smaller and shrubbier.
